COVID-19 Response

The following notice was issued to all existing students on June 7, 2020.  Please check back on this page for updates.  Providing our students a healthy learning environment is, and will always remain, our highest priority.

RE: SCHOOL REOPENING – HEALTH AND SAFETY
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for all your patience and support during this pandemic period. Following the announcement of BC’s Restart Plan, we are now moving into the next phase of our response to the pandemic, with the goal of returning to in-class instruction in September 2020. To make sure our school is safe for students, parents and staff, I will be implementing the following measures following the school’s re-opening:

  • If you are ill or showing signs of sickness (e.g. coughing, sneezing, etc.), please be considerate of others and do not enter the school premise. For the safety of other students and our staff members, we will ask you to leave if you exhibit any sign of sickness.
  • No parents/guardians and siblings should gather or wait in the school’s common areas at any time. Kindly wait in your car/parking lot and wait for your teacher to let you in the front entrance.
  • Before entering the classroom, everyone must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer, which will be made available by the entrance.
  • Everyone must always wear face mask or face shield while inside the school premise.
  • We will apply social distancing practices during class. All lesson activities will take place with students remaining in their seats.
  • We will disinfect high-contact surfaces like door handles, piano, keyboards and desk (for theory and history class) between classes. Bathroom will be cleaned at least twice a day.
  • No food or drink in class.
  • To promote social distancing, registrations will be done over the phone or by email. All course schedules and receipts will only be made available in electronic format.
  • Should the situation warrant, our school is ready to continue delivering our lessons virtually, in order to minimize interruption to your learning.
    FOR YAMAHA GROUP LESSONS:
  • We will implement small class policy to ensure proper social distancing for Music Wonderland, JMC 1, JMC 2, and YMC 1 classes
  • No parent/guardian attendance for YMC 2, JMC 3 or above. We ask that parents/guardians to please wait in your cars during lessons. We will be streaming the lessons to allow parents to follow along. Our school staff will ensure your children are escorted out after lessons in a safe and orderly manner.

Your health and safety will always remain my number one priority. I ask for your understanding and continuing support as we roll out these extraordinary measures, with one and only one goal in mind: helping you to learn music in the safest environment possible.

As always, please let me know if you have any question, comment or concern.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Chan
School Director
